• 12 Linajes Reserva 2014, the only Ribera del Duero with 93 points and “Editor’s Choice” in Wine Enthusiast.

The wine 12 Linajes Reserva 2014 has been valued with 93 points, while it has been named “Editor’s Choice” in the May edition of the American magazine Wine Enthusiast, one of the most renowned publications in the wine sector worldwide. The wine from Viñedos and Bodegas Gormaz has been uploaded to the podium as the only one of the D.O. Ribera del Duero to receive such a high score, which reaffirms the excellence and philosophy of the winery, based on respect for the terroir and the handmade production.

12 Linajes Reserva 2014 was born from a meticulous production, headed by the oenologist María José García, who with the help of a young and dynamic team, creates a wine coming from old vines in the most extreme zone in Ribera del Duero. The limit of its pre-philloxhera vineyard, the microclimates, as well as the altitude and the conditions of the surroundings, give the opportunity to produce wines full of personality, wines from Viñedos and Bodegas Gormaz.

    12 Linajes Reserva 2014

It is a Reserva born from a selection of plots with old strains of more than 80 years in Miño, Ines and Atauta and at an altitude of between 905 and 960 meters. The harvest is done manually, then the grape arrives to the winery, where the selection of the grape and its handmade production will begin. With 100% destemmed grapes, alcoholic fermentation at a moderate temperature (26ºC – 28ºC) and post-fermentation maceration depending on the anthocyanin-tannin ratio. 25% of the newly finished wine performs its malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. Wine aging is 24 months in new French oak (70%); American (15%) of one year and (15%) of two years with refinement in bottle for at least 18 months. With a complex nose, predominance of mineral notes in a background of cherry jam combined with a subtle blend of roasted and smoked background. Powerful palate but with a step of silky and well-balanced tannins that make up a final that feels fatty with mineral and candied aftertaste.

It is a white that finds its appeal in a bright yellow color, fruity aromas, highlighting the peach with spicy touches of fennel and aniseed. The palate is pleasant with a subtle entrance, balanced and round, fatty and persistent, a very elegant Verdejo ideal to enjoy as an aperitif, with seafood, fresh white meats and fish. From nocturnal mechanical harvest, this young white is born from a selection of vineyards in municipalities of Nava del Rey at an altitude of between 700 and 800 meters and an age of more than 15 years. Its soil has sediments of coarse and fine sandstone forming brown limestone soils. Subsequently, a selection of the grape is made by age of the vineyard and type of soil. Its pre-fermentative maceration is cold (8ºC-12ºC) for 4-8 hours to guarantee the total extraction of aromas to then have its fermentation at controlled temperature (16ºC) for 10-15 days. Subsequently, it is removed on its own lees at the end of fermentation to achieve the unctuousness and persistence characteristic of this wine.

  • The Best Garnacha 2016

A unique estate “La Pedriza” with only one variety – Garnacha – producing 1997 bottles of Tudelilla (Rioja Baja) .
The line of work we started several years ago has as main goal to work in two lines in the making process of its wines; the first one is referred to meet the expectations of the consumers who look for easy-drinking and uncomplicated wines; and the second one, a more special line, of wines which are born from the terroir, with microvinifactions in large barrels that allow the elaboration of wines differentiated by estates and aged in French oak. In this way, only small-scale productions, which the land produces with each vintage, come onto the market. This is how Valdelacierva Garnacha is born; which by its owne essence it emerges from the “La Pedriza” estate with unique characteristics – with a harvesting process that begins in the estate and continues on the winery, where it grows as wine.
With a very attractive dense violet colour, on the nose it is characterized by fresh aromas with balsamic hints, with an explosion of fresh red berries and a marked mineral finish. Silky and soft in the palate with a nice walk in the mouth and it doesn’t leave any of its consumers indifferent.
Moreover, it carries the simplest label where only appears the brand name without any other distracting elements. In fact, it is the sense of touch which is the main protagonist here, playing an excellent role that in a special way portrays the sense of touching the land and all the primary elements involved in the process of creating this special vintage.
